Dairy power generation is the act of generating milliwatt (mW) that is used for various purposes in a Dairy, such as recharging cattle prods. Its primary machine is the treadmill and to use it you need to register yourself as a pony.
Register as pony in the Farm Management console (see image to the right).
You are now a pony in the Muffin Milker's system.
You may if you wish click “Farm Info” then “Power”. This will tell you how much power is in the Dairy at the moment and a few other things.
Now take the stairs down and sit on a treadmill.
Click on the treadmill to get the Hoof Hud and attach it.
Above your head you will see a green hover-text that on the first row list the name of the Dairy, then "Treadmill running" on the 2nd line.
The 3rd line lists your current buffs but it is probably empty when you first begin. This is followed by "---".
In the 5th line you can see your Level, total generated, session generated and your Rate of power generation per tick (a 'tick' for ponies is 20 seconds). You want your Rate value to be as high as possible by using buffs.
On the 6th line is your Stamina per Power (SP, usually 0.20) and your Stamina Rating (SR, based on level and feed). Your stamina increase by level and its a major factor behind how much power you can generate in a single session. When SR reach zero, you are kicked off the treadmill and need to rest in a stall.
After this you might see a line that either tells you “Quota Status”. This means you're locked to the treadmill with a quota you must complete. Otherwise it say "No Timer". Finally you may have a line that say "Feeding" which indicates a Farm Hand have just given you food.
Every once in awhile (5-10 minutes) on the treadmill you need to pick the menu option “Whiny” from a menu of 9 choices (spelled somewhat differently every time the menu appears.
If you do not do this, your hover text turns yellow and your 2nd line will say -Idle Warning-.
After 10 minutes the yellow go to red with -Idle Final Warning!-.
After 20 minutes red go to black with -Idle to Long Need Reset-.
Once the text go black a timer begins to count down for 2 minutes.
Finally the pony will automatically by unsit due to afk.
Idling do not seem to have any impact on your Rate, Stamina or XP Generation.
After being booted off its possible to just go back on top of the machine.
Its therefore possible to jump on the treadmill and ignore it for 30 minutes with a single Power+ buff (see below).
Stamina Rating * 0.66 = Minutes you can stay on the treadmill (rough estimate)
(Stamina Rating / 2) * Rate = Amount of power you can generate in a single run (rough estimate)
Your Rate indicate how much power you generate per "tick", and a 'tick' for ponies is 20 seconds. This value can be boosted by buffs and the higher Rate you have the faster you generate mW for both you and the dairy. Your Stamina Rating indicate how long you can keep working before you need a rest. Your Stamina per Power (SP) is 0.50. This is the amount of stamina you lose each tick (20 seconds).
This means that every SR you have, gives you 40 seconds on the treadmill, and you can multiply your SR with 0.66 to get a rough estimate of how many minutes you can walk before you need rest (more about resting below).
If you divide your SR with 2, then multiply that with your Rate to get a rough estimate of the amount of power you are able to generate in a single walk before you need rest (more about resting below).
You can generate some power while idling, but that amount can't compete with active power generation which requires the Hoof Hud
Click on the treadmill to get the Hoof Hud.
The Hoof Hud boost your Rate with 250% and as you can tell its essential since you will produce 5 times as much power per tick (20 seconds) if you use it.
Attach the Hud and click it and "Connect". The red dot in the top-right goes from red to green. If it refuses, stand up and sit back on the treadmill to try again.
Click on the Hud again and "Start. You will now see Blue and Yellow Hoof's appear in 4 different places. When they appear they will be transparent, gradually become solid and finally switch to a new pattern.
You need to push the direction keys on your keyboard (or WASD if you use that setting) that corresponds to the Hoof's presented in the pattern. But you need to wait until they are the least transparent, usually after a count of 3 or 4. If you try to push them faster you get a "Close" indicating you failed.
Each time you enter a correct pattern you get +5 to "Current" points. If you fail you get +1.
When you collected 50 points the Current counter will reset to 0 and you get a temporary buff called ACV-5. ACV boost your Rate to 500% while it is active. The number after ACV-# will tick down to ACV-4, ACV-3, ACV-2 and ACV-1 before it disappear. As long as you have the ACV-# buff active you will have 500% power generation.
There is no need to complete patterns while the ACV-# buff is active!
The trick is instead to build up to 45-49 "Current" then wait until you're down to ACV-1 before you do the final pattern. This means you just need to do one more pattern to refill your timer to ACV-5 again and can use the countdown as a chance to speak to people and do other things outside SL.
ACV-# (from hoof hud) +250%: As explained in the Hoof Hud section you can get the ACV-# buff for 250% bonus. See the Hoof Hud section for more.
H-P (from farmhand, free) +0.001: Ask a Farm Hand to send you an invitation to join (Farm Hand > Pony Info > Join Stable) and answer "Yes" to receive the H-P buff. This gives a minor 0.001 bonus to rate. Once enabled you have it forever.
Shock (from farmhand, free) +0.020: Ask a Farm Hand for a "Shock" from their cattle prod. A such Shock gives you a temporary +0.020 bonus to Rate for 5 minutes. You can't receive more than 10 shocks per day.
Power+ (from farmhand, 50$M) +0.020: Ask a Farm Hand to give you the Power+ (Pony Pill Power Boost) buff (50$M). If you accept you get a +0.020 buff for 30 minutes.
*F* (from farmhand, 10-15$M) +0.001 +MAX SR: Ask a Farm Hand to feed you or feed yourself with bought food. The main point of feeding is increasing the pony's max stamina for the day (see feeding below) which is most noticeable after resting. But if you are just fed you will also get the *F* buff that indicate you got fed recently. You can be fed up to 5 times per day. There is also a “full meal” item that gives you the entire bonus instantly.
S-Bar (from farm hand, 40$M) +20SR: Ask a Farm Hand to give you the Stamina Recovery Bar (S-Bar) once per half an hour. This instantly gives you back 20SR but can't go over your maximum.
Nitro-P (from manager, 500$M): A manager may enable a Nitro-P buff. This is very expensive (500$M). It boost the whole stable for an hour.
Recovery+ (from farm hand, 50$M) +300% recovery: When resting you may ask a Farm Hand for "Recovery+" (Pony Pill Stamina Recovery) to get the "STAM-R" buff (50$M) for 30 minutes. If they accept and give you this buff, your stamina recovery rate is boosted with 300% for the duration, cutting the time you need to rest down to 1/3.
P↑ (from the purple ice cream vendor) +50% XP: Click the vendor > Icecream Menu > Get Cone. Equip the "MM - Icecream Cone". Click the vendor again > Icecream Menu > # for Blueberry flavor. Now click the cone in your hand click “eat”. You now have a 50% Pony Exp Boos for 30 minutes.
You may ask a Farm Hand for Feed up to 5 liters per day. Each liter increase your Stamina Rating for the day with +1 to up to +5 SR for the rest of the day. This is good for another 3:20 minutes running.
A Farm Hand can feed you from the Dairy when you're on the treadmill, taking food from the Dairy storage for 10$M. A Farm Hand may also feed you directly from their personal inventory, but this costs 15$M. This can be given without you being on the treadmill however. They may even feed you a “Full meal” for 100$M that feeds you 5 liters immediately.
If you are both a pony and a farm hand you can feed yourself using the MuffinOS HUD.
When you are fed with the treadmill you will get an indicator with "Feeding: 1.00 - 0.00 - 1.00" in the bottom row. Half the way through you get *F* listed as a buff.
A Farm Hand can give you a quota for the day. This is done by a Farm Hand through the Management Console, not through the treadmill. While you have a quota active you will see in the bottom line of the hover text how many mW (treadmill) or circles (pony circle) you have left to complete before you complete your quota.
You can have both a power quota for the treadmill and a circle quota for the pony circle trainer but you can only complete 1 quota per day so set it as high as you believe you can achieve for each.
When you fulfilled your quota you will be rewarded Moolah to your account. Moolah can be used to buy buffs for yourself if you have the MuffinOS bought at the Muffin's Milkers: Main Store for L$750.
Your Moolah reward is based on how high your quota was and your current Grade. As a pony you start as D, then grade up to C, B, A and S.
You increase your grade by doing the following;
* warning - following info is unverified *
You earn a bonus reward based on your current pony grade. Hypothetically the bonus use the same multipliers as cows, but I am still testing the exact formula for ponies. You seem to earn double your quota on a treadmill, and 1/5 your quota when running circles. This doesn't mean circles are worse, since they are a lot faster to run.
Grade multiplier:
S = 1.5
A = 1.0
B = 0.5
C = 0.25
D = 0
Hypothetical:
Power Quota: (quota * 2) + ((quota * 2) * grade)
= 10 Moolah for 5 mW at Grade D (verified), 20 at Grade A (unverified)
Circle Quota: (quota / 5) + ((quota / 5) * grade)
= 10 Moolah for 50 laps at Grade D (verified), 20 at Grade A (unverified)
When you inevitably you run out of Stamina (SR) you need to go into a special stall to recover. You can identify the correct stalls by the fact that they have a small red light above their door.
Open it up, walk in and close.
You will see how the light on the stall will turn to purple when you're detected.
A minute later it will turn green and the hover text will tell you that the rest cycle have begun. You recover 1 stamina every minute.
If it turns red again or seems wonky, try sitting on the stall.
When you are fully recovered the light turns cyan. You may now go back to a treadmill to continue a new run.
In the treadmill section at Cherry Blossom is a Pony Circle Trainer. Here's some of it's uses:
You may use the Pony Circle Trainer together with a Farmhand or by yourself. Having a farmhand can be used for RP purposes, but it might also make running the circle significantly easier by never changing the direction you need to run.
Once the trainer is started you use the Pony Circle Trainer by running around the central pillar in circles in the direction given by the hover text (or in local). Circles are reported every 15 seconds. Make sure to wait before clearing the circle so that all circles are reported.
You get a Milk Churner from the lockers at the Dairy. Click the pony locker (with a horseshoe on it). Equip the Milk Churner. You will see it on your back.
D: How long distance the pony moved in total
St: Stamina. How much longer you can work without rest.
StR: Stamina Rate. How much stamina the pony is consuming per tick.
You need to power up the Milk Churner and fill it up with milk. The outcome is about 1 liter product per 10 liter of milk. You charge the Milk Churner with 10 mW directly from the Dairy so check the available power first so there is a good amount of power available.
You need a farmhand or to be a farmhand for power:
Click on the Icecream Machine > Farmhand Menu > <your name>
You can refill the non depleted Milk Churner battery.
You can fill your own milk cannister:
Click on one of the Milk Dispensers > Dispense > MM - Churner > 10, 20 or 30 liters
You cannot refill the non depleted Milk Churner milk cannister.
Butter production & Delivery (not recommended)
*WARNING* Your Milk Churner is preconfigured to produce butter. If you start the churner and start walking you will be locked into this mode. You can't dump it until you are done, potentially wasting both milk, time and power. Butter is dropped off at a special Butter Dropoff (one is rezzed at the main store) and give you 25M$ per 10 liters which is terrible. If you want to make M$ you should probably focus on milk deliveries instead.
Icecream production & Delivery
So you might wish to make icecream instead. You may check the two icecream vendors at the dairy to see what tastes are needed.
To make icecream click your churner and select "Add Additive" and the flavor you want to make. Now it's safe to begin. When you are done churning the text turns red. You can now deliver the icecream to the icecream vendor. Click on the Churner > Dropoff > Dispenser
Churning
Start by clicking on the Milk Churner and “Enable Churner”.
You must now simply move to churn; Walking, Running or Jumping.
Going faster than walking may produce lumps which means that milk have been wasted.
You can combine this with the Circle Trainer if you wish.
