Welcome to the first ever Easter Egg Hunt at Tall Tails sim! The birds are out chirping and the flowers are blooming so it is time to celebrate that with a little pony related fun at our home. In the following document you will find details on when the event will be taking place, how you can participate and what you need to do to get your hands on some small but fun gifts we have prepared for you across Tall Tails.
Remember! This is all about having a little fun during the holiday period, no matter where you come from in the world please feel free to take part and go on the hunt!
The Egg Hunt will begin at 3PM SLT on Good Friday (If you are in Europe) and then end at 3PM SLT on Easter Monday, which for those of you not in the know that will be 01/04/2021 to 04/04/2021. All eggs will be located at Tall Tails Meadow, so no need to strain yourself trying to find things on Tall Tails Pike. You can locate Tall Tails Meadow by clicking on this link here.
To take part is very simple! You just need to be a member of the in-world SecondLife Group called Tall Tails Stable. No matter what rank you hold in this group, from Visitor all the way to Trainer, you will be able to click on any eggs you find to retrieve your gifts.
This is the big question right? Well the clue is in the name dummy! Scattered all across the sim will be 7 special eggs that you will need to locate. They are kinda big for eggs, picture in your mind something that an Ostrich may lay, or perhaps even a Connie.
To find the eggs you will need to take one of our specially prepared Easter Egg Hunt carts! These will be able to be rezzed from any of the public cart rezzers found on Tall Tails Meadow.
So why do you need this cart? Well our eggs are very special and in order for you to click them and get the goodies found inside, our Easter cart needs to be within 5 meters of the egg iutself. If the cart is not nearby, no matter how many times you click or how hard you click nothing will happen.
Our eggs are also designed to be ATE’s, that means All Terrain Eggs if you were unsure! Each day the eggs will move location on sim to a place that they feel the most comfortable in, so don’t be surprised when you find the same egg in a different location the next day!
“Why does it matter if they move each day? I will find them on the first day the event opens!” Well… You will not! Each egg will be numbered a different colour, a gift can only be obtained once from each unique egg, so if you find it two times, the second time you will receive nothing. In addition to this, only three eggs can be opened each day, so to collect each egg you will need to grab a cart and some ponies and go searching for at least three days of the weekend!
As mentioned before, once an egg is found simply click it once and your gift will be sent to you. Don’t forget to press the Accept button in the top right hand corner!
Now we get to the meat and potatoes of this event! The gifts we have prepared come in many varieties, from flowers to katanas, from robots to floating tanks.
When you have found your egg and clicked it, you will be given an item by the system, now be very very very very VERY careful that you press the accept button here. If you press cancel or discard, it will be gone forever and all your hard work will be wasted! If a gift is lost, there will be no second chances!
Once you have accepted the gift, it will be visible in the Objects folder of your inventory and should be very obviously named, it will be no mod and no copy;
Once you have this item you must rez it on the floor. In order to ensure you do not lose your item we recommend rezzing it somewhere with a flat surface, so as much as I love the sim I have created, I also know finding such a surface here can be very difficult and we recommend that you head off sim before doing so to avoid any unhappy accidents.
Once rezzed on the ground you will see a replica of the egg you found earlier. You simply need to click the egg to be given a system message that will allow you to copy the contents to your inventory. Do so and the gift is finally yours!
We have separated our eggs into three categories, Standard, Rare & Unique. The vast majority of gifts will be Standard and these will come in an ivory colour. If you are lucky you may get your hands on a rare egg, these will come in the Tall Tails green you see all around sim. Finally, if you are extra special, you may get yourself a golden Unique egg, these contain a special prize so be sure to read the contents very carefully.
Once your eggs are opened, that's it! I hope the hunt was fun and worth it!
In short, we had a fantastic and memorable four days. Throughout the duration of the event was saw a large spike in carting excursions around the sim and it was enjoyable each night watching people get their ponies and carts ready to go out on hunts. While we made sure to keep all the eggs close to cartable locations, we had a few people who struggled greatly to find some of our more tricky eggs.
The day after the event we posted the following map showing all egg locations;
As is typical with any Lacroix promotion we had a few stumbling blocks each night. Despite attempts to do advance planning and have a smooth daily transitions, problems would consistently occur.
On day 1, Secondlife started to have issues around the time of the placing of the eggs, so while we could see the eggs as being rezzed on the sim, when we logged in the day after half of those eggs had vanished without any return messages being sent to us.
On day 2, eggs were accidentally placed around the sim without any of the necessary scripts inside of them, so Magic was forced to log in during the early hours of the morning to fix and replace them.
On day 4, Molly decided to allow everyone to claim 7 eggs overall due to all the positive attention the event had been getting, to do this Magic was forced to rework all the scripts to remove the three per day egg limit. With Ana away on holiday and Magic and Molly having limited knowledge of scripting, this caused the start of the day to take an hour longer than expected, all while the Tall Tails masses made jokes and caused traffic jams on sim while waiting for the hunt to begin.
During the event we also saw a few people doing their best to be especially cheeky. Axelle, Trisky, Blacky and Camilla were caught red handed trying to break into the Lacroix house in a crazy attempt to touch an Egg Hunt test egg that had been left in the living room. Luckily, they were spotted by Molly and confronted before any gifts could be stolen.
Alexis, Jane, Vixen and Rayne were also caught collecting an egg from on top of a sim bridge. While not strictly against the rules, they were called out for their nonsense.
At the end of the week, we were elft with a single unique egg left in the gift pool. Rain managed to come online and get that final egg, but as Molly felt it was unfair for a Lacroix to get the final egg it was prompt confiscated from her and a simwide Pony Sumo competition was set up by Molly and Axelle. When the dust had settled, amb3r was crownded the Tall Tails East Sumo Champion and was given the final gold egg as a prize!
