¶ Introduction
Polo Leagues and Cups can be a very daunting thing to take part in within the SecondLife ponyplay community. Due to their nature, they are often highly competative and contain teams which are very experience in the sport. They can put a lot of new players off from taking part, as it takes a special kind of dedication of masochism to jump head first in knowing you will get beaten badly.
With that in mind, we wanted to create a Cup at Tall Tails that would allow some of our ponies and Trainer to get a taste of what a Polo Cup feels like, with the hopes that maybe they will catch the Polo bug and maybe start to play it more in the future. Who knows… maybe some new CPL ponies will be born here?
The ProAm Cup will be a randomized tournament. This means that players sign up to take part in the tournament and on the day of the games the teams will be created at random by placing one Amateur player with one Professional player. There will be a total of 12 Amateur players and 12 Professional players for a total of… you guessed it… 12 teams!
Games will be played using a double elimination (an explanation can be found here), as we have 12 teams this means that some teams will be automatically seeded to the second round. As all teams will be created by random selection, who that ends up being will not be known until the team draw in completed on the day.
¶ When & Where Is It Happening?
The event will be taking place on Saturday 25th of May 2021 at 11AM SLT, at the Tall Tails. We will be using the main platform at the Sky Training Platforms on the sim and will use the Double Stadium configuration for the tournament. Please feel free to come and test the stadiums before hand if you wish to get some practice in.
¶ How Can I Take Part
Take part is easy! As previously mentioned there are no restrictions on who can join but we are hoping to fill most teams with Tall Tails ponies new to polo, this however does not mean we are not welcoming of others who wish to join from other stables.
Simply send a message on either Discord or via IM in SecondLife to one of the following people indicating you wish to join;

Please see embedded here the league matches. Please be aware that due to an error in Challonge's layout, an additional match after the final was allocated but was not played. This was spotted during the tournament and the decision for how to resolve this was publicly disclosed far ahead of the final in the interest of fairness and transparency.
