¶ Modern/standard
The flower field used in flower dressage consists of 10 circles, 4 larger circles measuring 10 meters in diameter, 4 smaller sattelite circles measuring ~4.7 meters in diameter, each lettered A-H starting from a large circle, going clockwise around the field.
The last 2 circles are 4 and 2 meters respectively and located in the center.
From the intersections of the larger circles, 2 lines cross the center and connect with the oposite set of larger circles, producing a cross in the center.
90 degrees offset from the intersections, a line from each large circle crosses the smaller circles to connect the large circles together.
- Pony starts from the center cross, unless there's more than 1 pony, then they shall use the smaller circle in the center where lines cross.
- Patterns starts initially clockwise.
- When a pattern brings the pony to walk less than half the circle, the pony must complete a full lap around the circle before continuing.
- The pony may use portions of another circle to complete a transition between two circles in a pattern. Transitions are always made as smooth turns along circle lines.
- A 'x' in the pattern is used to designate a change of direction. That is clockwise to counter clockwise.
- A '-' in the pattern is used to designate no change in direction.
- The center circle must always be walked clockwise, and entered only during the start and end phase of the pattern.
- The pattern is always walked the shortest path, using the first oppertune exit of the circle
Classical flower uses the same field as modern.
- Transitions between circles are smooth curves; there are no sharp turns or stops. The pony may use part of another circle to create a smooth transition, and this portion is not subject to the Halfway Rule.
- A hyphen '-' in the pattern indicates the use of both the outer and inner lines to transition from one lettered circle to another.
- If a sharp turn prevents using the inner lines for transition (e.g., A-D), the pony must use the center circle for the transition, clockwise.
- An 'x' in the pattern indicates a change of direction where the circles cross. If two circles linked with 'x' do not cross each other, the pony must use the center circle as a connection (e.g., AxE means AxCenterxE).
- The center circle is a full circle in Classic and is subject to the Halfway Rule.
- The smaller circles (B, D, F, G) are always navigated clockwise when linked with a hyphen '-'.
- The pattern must always be walked in the shortest path possible, taking the first available exit from each circle.
Sinful flower field's design is based on the standard flower field layout, but is 2 flower fields on top of each other, one rotated 45°. Each field is colored Yellow and Blue, Yellow has the letters A-H and Blue has the letters I-P.
- The pony starts from the center cross. If there is more than one pony, they use the smaller circle in the center where the lines cross.
- Patterns initially start in a clockwise direction.
- The center circle must always be walked clockwise and can only be entered during the start and end phases of the pattern.
- When a pattern causes the pony to walk less than half of a named circle, the pony must complete a full lap around that circle before continuing. The center circle is exempt from this rule.
- The pony may use portions of another circle to complete a transition between two circles in a pattern. However, no more than 50% of a non-named circle can be used during such transitions.
- An 'x' in the pattern designates a change of direction, i.e., from clockwise to counterclockwise.
- A '-' in the pattern designates no change in direction.
- The pattern is always walked using the shortest path, taking the first available exit from each circle.
- Transitions between circles are always made as smooth turns along circle lines.
- Do not switch colors unless the letters in the pattern switch as well.
To be written
- Patterns are normally given in the format AxB-C, this can be troublesome for some people, so you can convert it using the rules that a uppercase letter (ABCD... etc.) means clockwise, and a lowercase letter means counter clockwise. so taking
AxB-CxD
, the pattern becomes instead A bc D
- As a Groom or Trainer, you can use your mouse pointer as mental checkpoints for where the pony should next go, to spot if the pony made a mistake
- When practicing, it's bad form to stop a pony as they make a mistake unless it's during a multi-pony pattern, let the pony practice the full extent of the pattern and explain what they did wrong and how to do it right after.
A free Flower Monitor tool is available from the garage, for TT staff. Wear it on your hud to track a pony doing a pattern. It will report the pattern that is being done and will check if the pattern is done according to the rules. You can wear as many as you like, so you can track multiple ponies at once. This tool currently only works with TT flower fields.
Flower Generator - Generates pre-mirrored patterns of a specified length for up to 4 ponies (or 8 if set for Sinful flower).
Flower Mirror - Mirrors a given pattern and gives you ready to paste patterns.
Flower Converter - Converts flower patterns from the traditional AxB-CxD
format to the A bc D
format.
